Since this is one of the oldest schools in Boerne, a few parts required urgent renovation. As a result, the school authorities decided to shut the school down for a couple of years. The school reopened in the academic year 2009-10. It was a period of turmoil for Boerne High School as it had never closed down even for a month before that. The renovation also led to the starting of some feeder schools under the Boerne High School, such as Boerne Middle School for 6-8, Cibolo Creek Elementary for K-5, Fabra Elementary for K-5, and Curington Elementary for K-5.
